Who is Qazi Faez Isa
Justice Qazi Faez Isa was born in Quetta on October 26, 1959, as the son of the late Qazi Mohammad Isa of Pishin, who was at the forefront of the Pakistan Movement and a close companion of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
After returning from London, Justice Isa’s father was the first person from the region to obtain the Bar-at-Law degree and helped form the All India Muslim League in Balochistan. His father was the only member of the All India Muslim League’s Central Working Committee from Balochistan.
Begum Saida Isa, Justice Isa’s mother, was a social worker who served on the boards of hospitals and other charity organizations that focused on education, children’s health, and women’s health.
Isa traveled to Karachi after finishing his primary and secondary education in Quetta to complete his ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels at the Karachi Grammar School (KGS). He went on to study law in London, where he passed his Bar Professional Examination at the Inns of Court School of Law.
He was called upon as an amicus curiae by the High Courts and the Supreme Court on occasion and provided aid in difficult matters. He has also participated in international arbitration.
Justice Isa was sworn in as a Supreme Court of Pakistan judge on September 5, 2014, and is set to become chief justice for 13 months on September 18, 2023.

Justice Qazi Faez Isa was admitted as an Advocate of the Balochistan High Court on January 30, 1985, and as an Advocate of the Supreme Court on March 21, 1998.
He practiced law for almost 27 years before all of Pakistan’s High Courts, the Federal Shariat Court, and the Supreme Court, and was a member of the Balochistan High Court Bar Association, the Sindh High Court Bar Association, and the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan. Prior to his promotion, he was a senior partner and the head of litigation at one of Pakistan’s top law firms.
He was called on as an amicus curiae by the High Courts and the Supreme Court on occasion, and he assisted in several challenging matters. He has also presided over international arbitrations. Countless cases in which he served as Counsel have been recorded in legal publications.
Prior to his appointment, Justice Isa was a regular contributor to Pakistan’s English-language publications. He co-authored the book Mass Media Laws and Regulations in Pakistan and contributed to the report Balochistan: Case and Demand.
